On Friday, November 17, 2017 EIKON not only presented its 100th jubilee issue, but also awarded the winners of the EIKON Award (45+) at the KUNST HAUS WIEN. to the pictures Congratulations to the winners! Susan MacWilliam (b. 1969) represented Northern Ireland at the 53rd Venice Biennale with her solo exhibition Remote Viewing in 2009. She is a multi-award winning artist who explores obscure and til today overlooked stories and cases of perceptual and paranormal phenomena through video, photography, and installation media. In 2017 she wins the EIKON Award (45+), with a prize money of € 5,000. Katrín Elvarsdóttir (b. 1964) graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Art Institute in Boston. Her works have been shown in numerous exhibitions in Iceland and overseas, including shows in New York, Copenhagen and Washingtin D.C. In 2016 her book Double Happiness was published by Crymogea in Reykjavik in cooperation with an same titled exhibition at Gerðarsafn — Kópavogur Art Museum Gabriele Rothemann (b. 1960) studied photography at the art school of Kassel and at the art academy of Dusseldorf. In 2001 she founded the Department of Photography in the field of fine arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, which she still heads today. Besides she has numerous solo exhibitions, including her latest Quire. Twenty-four Birdcages at MUSA, Vienna 2017. About the EIKON Award (45+) Under the patronage of the media art and performance pioneer VALIE EXPORT, the award was directed at women photographers and media artists aged 45 and older. The addressees are oftentimes excluded by age restrictions, in addition to still being marginalized on the art market on the basis of multiple aspects of their sexual identity. The aim of the award is to expose the conditions of contemporary women art production. In the 100th issue of EIKON, the winners are presented on a total of 36 pages.
