The Austrian Institute for Photography and Media Art has been publishing Edition EIKON since 1995, which comprise limited editions of signed and numbered original photographs by renowned and emerging artists. The aim of this initiative is to offer quality works of art at affordable prices, and to thereby familiarize more art lovers—particularly young generations—with photography and to encourage them to collect. From April 19 to 22, the Art Brussels opens its doors for 147 galleries from 32 countries to present works from the early 20th century to new and yet unknown contemporary artists. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary the Art Brussels invited Elena Sorokina to curate the project ‘Mystic Properties’, a conversation between several generations of artists who have been residents at HISK. In addition screenings of "Crossed Wires", a cooperation project with Philippine Hoegen, will be held. The film reflects on the developments in the Belgian art scene over the last 50 years.
