Terms and Conditions, EIKON Photography Competition, 2011 (German version)

1. By participating in the competition, you accept the following terms and conditions in their entirety. No changes or exceptions to these terms and conditions are possible.
1.1. Participation in the competition is free of charge. There is no participation fee.
1.2. All permanent residents of Europe are qualified to participate, except for all former and current employees of the organizer (ÖIP-EIKON) and their partners, as well as their employees or family.
1.3. Submissions must have reached us by April 30, 2011. After this date, the submission system will be closed.
1.4. The submitted works need to have been created in the years 2008 to 2011.
1.5. Each participant can only submit one work. If the work is a series, a maximum of three images from the series can be submitted.
1.6. Only works created using photographic means can be submitted (including photograms, collages, scans, etc.)
1.7. To participate in the competition, all participants are required to upload their images online at the website http://www.eikon.at/content/competition/home.php, and follow the specifications and instructions exactly.
1.8. Submissions per email will not be accepted.
1.9. The submitted files need to meet the following formal criteria: each file must be a JPEG with 300 ppi and include an embedded color profile. Quality level should be as high as possible. Each picture must be between 1600 pixels and 1800 pixels on the longer side, and should not be more than 2 MB.
2. Winners will be chosen anonymously and privately by a jury whose members are freely chosen by EIKON.
2.1. Winners will be informed after the jury meets on May 19 and 20. All other participants will not be notified. They can inform themselves of the results by visiting the website http://www.eikon.at/content/competition/winners.php.
2.2. EIKON will take on the responsibility for producing the works selected by the jury for their subsequent exhibition. Artists can choose among the following techniques: C print, inkjet print, and silver gelatin print. We request that you submit printable data and A4-sized proofs a week after being notified.
2.3. The produced works can be a maximum of 80 x 120cm (one image), 60 x 80cm (two images) or 40 x 60cm (three images) in size.
2.4. The works produced will be send to the winners after the conclusion of the exhibition unless expressly requested otherwise. Costs for packaging and shipping must be paid in advance by the recipient. The works will only be insured at the express wish of the artist and at the artist’s expense, and must be paid for in advance. EIKON refuses all responsibility for transportation and damage.
3. The participant must hold all rights on the work submitted.
3.1. Submitted work must not violate the rights to intellectual property and/or the privacy of third persons. The submitting artists take guarantee for this and may be held liable from organizers for any violation.
3.2. By registering for the competition, the participants agree to the registration and storage of personal information and information on their work. They agree to the public use of this information and the submitted work in the context of the competition.
3.3. Participants grant organizers and its partners non-exclusive, worldwide rights to use the works and submitted texts in the context of the competition and the exhibition. The organizers and partners/sponsors can publish and use the works and texts in the context of the competition. This includes (not exclusively):

Choosing the prizewinners
Presenting the winning works in the final exhibition and other public exhibitions organized by the competition organizer and/or partners.
Publication on the website of the organizers and/or partners and in advertising materials and other competition-related products (catalogs, etc.), including after the end of the exhibition.
The transmission of these rights to publish and reproduce to the media in the framework of reporting on the competition and the exhibition.
4. There is no legal claim to the prize money or the production of the work by EIKON, the exhibition of the work, or its return. EIKON and their contract partners are excluded from all liability, to the extend allowed by law.
5. Austrian law applies and Vienna is the exclusive place of jurisdiction.
6. The German original of these Terms and Conditions takes precedence over this English translation.
7. These terms and conditions are binding.
