Portraits of stars, celebrities and most prominent personalities in the history of the 20th century have defined the style of the German Stern magazine for over 40 years. Their author, photographer Volker Hinz, began his career at the age of 20, and already in the 1970s became a champion of reportage in Germany, publishing his images of the United States and southern Africa. Selecting photographs from his extensive oeuvre is an utmost pleasure which concludes work on the programme of this year Fotofestiwal in Łódź. The fact that Hinz consistently avoids virtual media vehicles makes it even more special – his photographs can be admired solely in photo albums, original editions of magazines and… at the Fotofestiwal!

13th edition of the International Festival of Photography will take place on June 5-15, 2014 in Łódź, at a new venue – recently revitalized Art_Inkubator, a complex of three buildings which used to house cotton warehouses.

Famous figures from Hinz’s photographs will be accompanied by other world-class artists: Roger Ballen, champion of artistic photography, author of some of the most haunting images in the history of photography, Phillip Toledano, Evgenia Argubaeva, Alex Webb – to mention only a few guests and authors of the Fotofestiwal 2014 exhibitions.
