Open Call: Wiesbadener Fototage 2025

Einsendeschluss: 15.03.2025

[English version, for German see here]

Since its inception in 2002, Wiesbadener Fototage has offered photographers the opportunity to submit photo series for the exhibitions. The 13th Wiesbadener Fototage 2025 has retained this format, which is unique in the German photo festival landscape, and are looking forward to a large number of participants in our Open Call.

PARTICIPATION
Photographers from all over the world can enter up to two photo series for the seven main exhibitions of the 13th Wiesbadener Fototage. It is also possible to submit one or two 1‑channel video works. There are no stylistic or technical restrictions, nor are there any restrictions on the nationality or age of the applicants. The only thing that counts is that the content is related to the festival theme and that the quality of the realisation is convincing. Submitted photo series must contain a minimum of six individual images and a maximum of 12 images. AI-based work must be identified as such.

FESTIVAL THEME
The Wiesbadener Fototage is looking for photo series/video works that deal with the content of this year’s festival theme “Future? What Future?!“ An independent conceptual realization should be recognizable.

The works submitted should question supposed certainties, provide food for thought, raise hopes and open up new horizons. What we do not expect are patent remedies or blanket solutions.

ARTIST FEE

All nominees receive an exhibition fee of 250 euros as well as a travel allowance of up to 150 euros for participation in the opening weekend of the 13th Wiesbadener Fototage.

The submission fee is 20 EUR.

FESTIVAL THEME

We are looking for photo series/video works that deal with the content of this year’s festival theme “Future? What Future?!“ An independent conceptual realization should be recognizable.

We ask ourselves: What kind of new world do we want to create together? What other worlds are possible? How do we want to live? What do we want? What do we dream of? What do we want to save or even rediscover from the past and present for the future? What can we learn from other societies? How can we rethink the seemingly unchangeable? What new forms of coexistence are worth striving for? And how can we achieve them? And what future does the medium of photography have in the age of AI?

These are just some of the questions that the Wiesbadener Fototage would like to address. The works submitted should question supposed certainties, provide food for thought, raise hopes and open up new horizons. What we do not expect are patent remedies or blanket solutions.
