Zusatzinfo

We are pleased to announce the double solo exhibition of the works of Antonella Anselmo and Wolfgang Pavlik. This project, entitled Half of Life, resulting from a synergy between the two artists and inspired by the homonymous Friedrich Holderlin’s poem, combines “landscape”, feeling and symbol in that “one-all” in which the individual has to lose himself before being able to find his own entirety, according to the Romantic tradition. Such an entirety cannot be perceived by reason but only by the élan of poetry, which is the highest available form of cognition. Pavlik, who is the artist more strictly connected to painting, has shot a video that, in its vhs analogue tape form, maintains the warm and intimate fascination of painting: a monochrome red hides a body that, although comfortably sitting, seems to be eager to escape from the imposed geometry. A protective layer, a threshold separating two dimensions which, although distant, are nevertheless part of the mentioned Holderlinian “one-all”. Antonella Anselmo plays with some little note-books displayed on an old table, prayer books, as the artist calls them, capable of telling vibrating fragments of life, containing layers of collage or swift acts of painting full of intriguing narrative tension.
