Der Fotograf Daisaku Oozu, der sowohl Fotografie in Osaka wie auch Philosophie in Kyoto studiert hat und jetzt in Yokohama lebt, hatte bisher als Schwerpunkt seiner Arbeit die Themen Landschaft, Meer und Licht. Seine neueste Ausstellung in der galerie son greift diese wieder auf, allerdings in Zusammenhang mit der Nuklearkatastrophe in Fukushima. Seit 2009 ist es ihm ein wichtiges Anliegen, seine Sorge um heutige Umweltprobleme künstlerisch in die Fotografie zu transponieren. Der Atomreaktorunfall im vergangenen Jahr hat ihn in diesem Bestreben bestärkt. So ist ein großer Teil der Bilder, die in Berlin zu sehen sein werden, ein Jahr nach der Katastrophe in Fukushima selbst oder in weiteren betroffenen Gegenden wie Niigata aufgenommen worden. (...) The photographer Daisaku Oozu, who has studied both photography in Osaka and philosophy in Kyoto and now lives in Yokohama, has hitherto placed the emphasis of his work on the depiction of landscape, sea and light. In his newest exhibition in galerie son he again takes them up, but in conjunction with the nuclear catastrophe in Fukushima. Since 2009 it is of special concern to him to convey his worries about current environmental problems artistically into photography. The atomic accident last year still reinforced his endeavor.
